Storage that Serves

We're here to help during life's biggest transitions—your first house, a new business or an unexpected deployment. Though our core function is storage, we know that good business and social responsibility go hand in hand.

As a company with over 900 employees, we know there's power in numbers. We believe it's our responsibility to work together and make a difference. Whether donating a percentage of our profits to Feeding America or volunteering time to build Habitat for Humanity houses, our team is collectively committed to serving the greater good.

Here's a look at a few of our community outreach initiatives.

Providing Storage in Times of Tragedy

When natural disasters or unexpected tragedies strike, we want to do our part. We donate storage units to various non-profit organizations, including American Red Cross, Vietnam Veterans Association, Boy Scouts of America, American Cancer Society and YMCA.

Donating $1 Per Rental to Hungry Americans

An estimated 54 million people faced hunger during 2020, including more than 18 million children. In support of Feeding America®, NSA will donate $1 for every rental*—up to $150,000—to feed hungry American families. That's more than 1.5 million meals.

Setting up Youth for Success

Underserved youth need the support of their communities to thrive. We're proud to work with organizations that provide financial assistance and educational resources to young people.

  • ACE Scholarships
ACE believes every child deserves a great education. ACE scholarships provide tuitions to private schools for low-income children in grades K-12. In addition to awarding over $102M in scholarships over the last 20 years, ACE also advocates for expanded school choice in underserved communities.

  • Junior Achievement-Rocky Mountain, Inc. (JA)
NSA leaders volunteer their time to JA, a program dedicated to preparing young people to succeed in the global economy. JA provides programs for students which focus on 3 key areas— entrepreneurship, financial literacy and work readiness.

  • Self Storage Association Scholarships
In partnership with our Executive Chairman, Arlen Nordhagen, NSA has committed $500,000 toward the Self Storage Association Foundation (SSAF) college scholarship. This endowment is specifically for employees in the self storage sector.

  • Project Lemonade
NSA PRO, Northwest Self Storage, is a proud partner of Project Lemonade, a Portland-based nonprofit that aims to inspire self-esteem in foster kids. Since its beginning in 2012, Project Lemonade has served more than 14,000 foster youth in the state of Oregon.

Engaging Employees in Community Service

Each company in the NSA Brands family places high value on contributing to local communities. Whether through company-wide initiatives or store-level community service, our employees aspire to inspire—at the local level. Some of our store-specific programs include Toys for Tots donation drop-offs, Adopt-a-Family holiday sponsorships, canned food drives + more.
